Energy Solutions

Agritrade Resources is a diversified energy provider with strong expertise in coal and renewable energy. Coal is integral in providing affordable energy, at the same time, there is a growing demand for renewable energy. To complement these trends, the Group developed presence in these three important aspects.

Integrated Coal Mining

Agritrade Resources is the first to introduce large-scale, fully-mechanised underground coal mining in Indonesia. We are the only coal player currently with the expertise to unlock the large-scale underground coal potential in Indonesia. This technical and production niche, together with our integrated supply chain solutions from pit-to-port, enables us to transport the coal efficiently and reliably to our customers.

Through our subsidiaries, Agritrade Resources owns and operates two coal mines and provides contract mining for one mine in Indonesia. Located in Central and South Kalimantan, the mines produce varying grades of bituminous and sub-bituminous, low-sulphur, low pollutant thermal coal to cater to our international and domestic clienteles.

Agritrade Resources has also acquired a coal mine located in Shannxi Province of China. The coal quality for China Mine is low volatile bituminous coal with low inherent moisture, medium-ash and high-sulphur content. We believe the China Mine marks its first foray into the promising China market which can effectively diversify our mining business to a new geographical location.

From providing coal origination, processing and surface and transhipment logistics services, Agritrade Resources efficiently supplied and marketed around 5.7 million tonnes of varying grades of coal in FY2019.

Energy

Agritrade Resources owns a biodiesel plant in Arkansas, United States that sits on a wide area of 38.2 acres of land. Biodiesel is a sustainable and cleaner burning fuel that diversifies the energy complex and reduces exhaust emissions.

As part of the integrated value chain model, the Group converts natural fats, oil and greases and turn it into biodiesel – an advanced biofuel. The biodiesel plant is strategically located in Memphis, a major biofuel refining and distribution centre in the United States. Production from this biodiesel plant caters to the increasing demand for renewable energy in the US market.

Agritrade Resources’s energy business engaged in the operation of a high powered domestic coal based thermal power plant comprising of four units of 300 megawatt each, in two phases of 600 megawatt each, at village Binjkote & Durramuda, Raigarh, in the State of Chhattisgarh, India.

SKS Power Plant’s total land area has 239.3ha. Phase I of the construction has already been completed and the plant was put into operation and has started generating revenue and cash flows since 2017. Currently, Phase II remains in its initial stage of construction. All common infrastructures are already in place for the whole project of 4 x 300MW capacities. Regarding the Phase I operation, the group has secured various power purchase agreements for the supply of more than 500 MW power capacities annually. As a result, a stable and persistent revenue for the SKS Power Plant is secured.

Agritrade Resources, through our shipping arm Sea Oriental Line (Pte Ltd), is the preferred one-stop partner for maritime transportation and storage solutions. the Group also owns a chemical and oil tanker to support and complement our clients’ logistic chain. Our key differentiation lies in the ability to provide customised and value-added solutions, around the clock.
